New One Piece Live Action on Netflix for 2021
One Piece Netflix Live-Action
With over 320 million copies worldwide, One Piece has recently become the most widely distributed single author series in the world, according to the Guinness Book of Records. It follows the adventures of Monkey D. Luffy and his pirate crew, who explore a fantasy world in search of the ultimate treasure, known as "One Piece", to become the next pirate king.
This January 29, 2020, Netflix announced the production of a live action series adapted from One Piece on its Twitter account. As a reminder, the project was first mentioned in 2017 on the web. At the time, the name Netflix had not been mentioned. Nevertheless, a few months later, an insert dedicated to the One Piece series appeared, obviously by mistake, in the Netflix catalog. Today’s announcement comes as no surprise. The series will have 10 episodes for its first season. There shouldn't be much time left before we get more info.
For the occasion a special twitter account has been created : @onepiecenetflix
Our Master Eiichiro Oda will be part of the project
In a tweet, Netflix confirms the involvement of Eiichiro Oda, creator of the manga, in the project. "I know I announced the production of this film in 2017, but these things take time ! The preparations are progressing slowly behind the scenes, and it seems that I can finally make the big announcement "explains Eiichiro Oda in a press release relayed by Netflix.
Translation of the picture :
" I know I announced the production of this series in 2017, but these things take time! Preparations have slowly advanced behind the scenes, and I can now officially announce that Netflix, the world leader in streaming entertainment, will give us tremendous support for production! All of this is very exciting! How far will the story progress in the first 10 episodes of the first season? Who will be the heroes? Stay tuned, you will know more soon. "
We know as an anime fan that a lot of people are afraid of these kinds of adaptations but this one seems to be going the right way. Matt Owens will be at the script (Luke Cage, Agents of SHIELD) and we are also learning that the series has a budget exceeding that of Game Of Thrones (HBO).
Hopefully this adaptation could mark the occasion and offer us many other adaptations of other quality anime.
Who will be the different actors ?
We didn't have a lot of official information on this, however some tweets certainly give us some indications. This is notably the case of the perhaps future actor of Zoro who will be played by: Lewi Tan who recently posted a video of his katana training stating in response: "Where are the pirates - Zoro" Actor's fantasy or reality ? What we are sure of is that One Piece's live action arrives in 2021.
